Lash lingo: Everything you need to know
C-curl, CC-curl, D-curl. 8 millimeters, 10 millimeters, 12 millimeters. Cat, Doll, Fox. All of this can sound somewhat confusing, especially if you are new to eyelash extensions.
There are seemingly endless options and infinite combinations, but that is what makes lash extensions so great! At Eye Design, we love having the right tools and techniques in place to give each client a one-of-a-kind lash look.
We mentioned in a previous post that you should always make it a priority to ask your technician what lashes she used on you. That way, you can request the exact same at your next appointment. Or, if you want to make some slight changes, such as a more intense curl or a longer length, you will know exactly how to ask for it.
Our team is full of eyelash experts who know everything there is to know about Eye Design’s entire range of products. Lash artists at our studio can mix and match different curls, lengths and thicknesses to create a customized style for every client at every volume level. From simple styles like cat and doll to more advanced styles like fox and honeybee, we can do it all!
The first step when scheduling a lash appointment at Eye Design is selecting your volume level. We have four different densities, and each affects how long your appointment will take. Our Natural Set is for first-time lash-wearers, as well as those who prefer no makeup or “no makeup” makeup.
Glamour Set is for everyday mascara-wearers. Dramatic Set is a high-impact lash look, great for lovers of falsies and strip lashes.
Finally, our Kim’s Effect features intense volume with varied length throughout. Alternating lengths results in a fluttery and feminine lash.
Next, it is time to pick your lash style. This is where things can get a little confusing. Our technicians are always experimenting and creating new styles for Eye Design clients, but we have our go-to’s, too.
Must-have styles, like cat and doll, are among the most popular styles. For clients who are unsure which to choose, we recommend going with natural, which--you guessed it--follows your lashes’ natural pattern. While cat elongates your eyes, styles like doll and round open them up. Your technician can advise you on what style works best for your particular eye shape or desired outcome.
The volume and style you choose, as well as your eye shape, all play a role in the curl your technician uses. C-curl is a soft, natural-looking lash; CC-curl recreates the look you would achieve with mascara and/or a lash curler; D-curl is an intense, faux-lash look. Eye Design also offers L-curl, LC-curl and LD-curl to better suit clients with deep-set or hooded eyes.
It is also important to note that we have different color options! While most clients choose classic black, many blonde clients go for dark brown or a black-brown mix.
No matter what you choose, you will feel comfortable knowing that Eye Design uses only safe, hypoallergenic and cruelty-free lashes. They are soft and easy to maintain after application. Our premium synthetic materials allow the lash to hold its original curl and direction.
