What to know before your first lash appointment
Eyelash extensions are becoming more popular every single day! If you haven’t tried them for yourself, there is a good chance you have at least thought about going for extensions, right?
Whether you have a special occasion coming up or you simply want lash extensions because they are convenient and beautiful, Eye Design can give you a look you will love. Our technicians specialize in customized semi-permanent beauty treatments!
Before you visit us for eyelash extensions, there are a few key points to keep in mind. We want you to have long-lasting results that make you feel confident! Our goal is to make your life easier.
Research lash styles.
Come prepared with a few photos of how you would like your final results to look. These can be of your favorite celebrities or models, from your favorite makeup artists or simply of you in full glam. Our technicians always take your preferences into consideration, and having photo examples makes it a lot easier for your technician to get on the same page as you.
You can also show your technician your favorite pair of strip lashes that may help her decide which style you would like best. Eye Design has four options for volume (which you will choose when booking your appointment) and more than 10 different styles (which you and your technician will discuss at the beginning of your appointment). We offer common styles, like Cat and Doll, as well as more advanced styles like Fox and Squirrel.
Use platforms like Pinterest or Instagram to save and organize styles that appeal to you. Once your technician has a better understanding of your preferences, she will be able to give you the lash look that works best for you!
Wash your hair.
For long-lasting lashes, we recommend you do not get your new extensions wet for at least 24 hours after your appointment. Shower and wash your hair the morning of your appointment so that you do not have to worry about it afterward.
(Side note: Never brush or spoolie your lash extensions when they are wet. This causes pulling that is harmful to both the extensions and your natural lashes.)
Bring your headphones.
When done properly, lash appointments take a long time. Any technician or studio that claims to do a full set in an hour is working incorrectly.
At Eye Design, our technicians apply at least one individual extension to every natural lash. This can take upwards of two hours, so we do not mind at all if you take a little nap or bring headphones with you. Feel free to listen to music, podcasts or audiobooks while you get your lashes done at our studio.
Dress for success.
Eyelash extensions require special care. As a lash wearer, you should be extremely cautious when pulling sweaters and sweatshirts over your head to avoid tugging. We recommend you wear something baggy or something with a button front to your appointment, that way you can dress and undress with ease while you get used to your new lashes.
Get to know the lingo.
C-curl, CC-curl, D-curl. 8 millimeters, 10 millimeters, 12 millimeters. Cat, doll, fox. All of this can sound a little confusing at first; there are so many possible combinations! But, that is what makes eyelash extensions so great.
During your visit, make it a priority to ask your technician what she used on you, that way you can request the exact same at your next appointment. Or, if you want to make some slight changes, such as a more intense curl or a longer length, you will know exactly how to ask for it.
